Strong Single Mommy Video: A Bronx Morning-The Story of a Single Mother

By Zakialacey @zakialaceyblog

I just watched a very touching video that I wish I could share with every strong single mother in the world. It's about a woman named Christina and her typical morning routine as a single mother. This video brought back so many memories. I was once Christina and it was not that long ago.
I would get Zahara (my daughter) and I dressed in the morning before the sun was even up. We would then take a cab to her daycare center. I would then take that cab to the train station, take the train to work, leave work & walk to school. After school I took the train to the closest station to the daycare center and then took a cab to the daycare and then home. I did this everyday for a few months. I eventually moved into a nicer apartment that was closer to the daycare so we spent a lot of time walking. I never wanted anyone to feel sorry for me, I took pride in making everything happen for us and I always knew that one day things would get better.
What saddens me is the negative and cruel comments that are in the comment section of this video. People can be so hurtful and judgemental. It is unfair to assume someone is a bad mother because they are single, and it is just as unfair to assume that all single moms are looking for a handout because that is not the case. I could go on and on about this but I won't because some people will never understand until it happens to them, or someone they love. Many single moms are not single moms by choice...it can happen to you too.
