Your Thursday just got upgraded by way of Sagamore, a five-piece out of Melbourne who are going to let you listen to their debut EP one week early. With the swagger of Dylan and the strut of Cash, Sagamore’s bluesy throwback soul settles like whiskey on an empty stomach, going straight to your head and getting you up on your feet. At times, the EP plods along, Sam Cooper’s deep-reaching voice literally singing the blues and making us feel the music in our bones, but most of the time, the EP crowds the dance floor, kicking up as much dust and sweat as it can muster. The light, sweet backing vocals paired with the country-cool nonchalance of Cooper’s croons strike that hard to hit spot between sweet and salty, and the blues guitar riffs, background organ and harmonica all round off Sagamore’s soulful sound that you’re going to dig so hard. Check their self-titled EP above in its entirety and get your hands on your own copy November 8.
