Reverend Al Sharpton Plans On Visiting Meek Mill
Al Sharpton has announced that he is planning on visiting Meek Mill in prison on Monday. The reverend made this public information this weekend at a rally with the National Action Network in Harlem, as reported by NBC and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Sharpton is only the latest important public figure to speak out on what many believe to be an injustice on Meek Mill’s behalf. Colin Kaepernick, JAY-Z, and Drake have all spoken publicly in support of Mill, and also in opposition to the harsh sentence the justice system has placed him with.
The reverend commented at the rally saying, “Just because someone does something that is wrong, does not give you the right to do wrong to them. The sentence must fit the violation.” Mill was recently transferred to a different detention center in his home state of Pennsylvania. His sentence is two to four years, and is considered to be a glowing example of the unfair justice system targeting minorities.
