So You’ve Hit Your Limit With Life Right Now And You Need A Reset To Get Back In The Game.

Are you stuck right now? Not even sure how you feel anymore? Maybe a case of the blues? (and I don’t mean B.B. King) What are you going to do? How are you going to get back into a positive mindset? Cocktails can get you only so far. So what to do?

You need a reset. Dictionary.com says a reset is: to set, adjust, or fix in a new or different way. Well duh. But how do we actually reset us? Our minds? Our attitudes? And shit is hard when we aren’t “feeling it”. So what can we do?

First, make a list. List all the things that make you happy. My list would look like this:

  1. The Beach
  2. Amazon Shopping on the porch with a margarita.
  3. No humidity or mosquitos. (Not sure how to MAKE this happen)
  4. Friends who love to laugh loud and long to hang with me.
  5. Wearing my comfy clothes, no makeup and barefoot.

Seems easy. I already feel like making a beach trip. Don’t you feel a little more relaxed? Good. Because this next exercise is going to push it just a little further. Now try to make 3 positive changes each week.

  1. Add more water daily.
  2. Start doing Yoga.
  3. Do something nice for someone each day.

Easy right? Now follow through with that for at least 14 days. They say 14 days helps create permanent change. Remember it’s not taking away from anything, you are just adding things that are positive. Hell add a different cocktail to the weekend each month.

Now what? How about a toughie. Write your obituary! What do you want people to read about you when you are gone. It can be short, long whatever. Let it tell your story. Then live up to it. Get a new journal and put your obit in the first entry. Read it everyday and start to really live it. Journal each day as you go. There will be days you have a tough time but if you keep going, it will become better.

Another thing to start adding to your time, Volunteer. Do some hours at the local dog or cat rescue. Help at a mission. Work on getting donations of books for children who don’t have any and find somewhere that can distribute them for you or at a local public school or church. Get creative with your volunteering. You don’t have to write checks or do hard labor. Do some volunteer work that you will enjoy and that alone will make you feel so much better about life.

One last idea, send out positive affirmations or Thank-You notes to friends, neighbors or strangers. Buy someone’s breakfast or lunch. Start with your friendships that have gotten a little stale. Friendships and relationships need watering and sunshine just like any plant or animal. I guess your kids need water and sunshine too. But whatever.

It’s up to you to do the “work” to get out of the blahs. No one can do it for you. It can be easy but it can also be extremely tough. We all go through times where life seems to be to hard or miserable to keep going. You just want to lay out awhile and see what takes shape but that’s not really the answer. Work at it. Work on you. Work on relationships. Life can be awesome even in the worst of times, but you have to go after it. Like I always say, the rainiest days at the beach are better than the sunniest days stuck at home. It’s all about the mindset. You got this.

Now here’s a cute video to help your mindset. Peace Love and Margaritas
