I have been wearing Levi's jeans for the past five years, I love the fit, the quality and the price tag of being under $100. Not only do I wear them, I recommend them to my clients and have turned my friends on to them as well. So you can bet that when I was asked to review a pair of Jeans from Signature by Levi Strauss & Co.™, available at Walmart for $20, I couldn't imagine there being a better person to do a review than me. Granted, up until doing this review, I didn't have any experience with these particular jeans, but being a devout Levi's wearer I knew I could give a great comparison.

My review of Signature by Levi Strauss & Co.™ Simply Stretch Modern Skinny

Signature by Levi Strauss & Co.™ jeans come in several different styles, including Simply Stretch Modern Skinny, Simply Stretch Modern Boot Cut, Simply Stretch Curvy Skinny, and Simply Stretch Curvy Boot Cut. I ordered the Simply Stretch Modern Skinny which are extra stretchy and comfortable, have a slim leg opening and sit just below the waist. They're definitely not low-rise, in fact, what I noticed immediately after putting them on was that they sit higher in the back than most jeans I have worn. I particularly liked this because, due to the unfortunate gene pool I come from, I can get muffin top in the back if my jeans are too low rise. This, in addition to just how unsightly exposed thongs and butt cracks can look, I really appreciated this small detail.

These jeans also have great recovery, which means the fabric holds its shape well. Part of the reason I think many people turn their noses up at affordable jeans is because they won't wear well and will stretch out, bag at stress points, like the knees, because of cheap stretch. When I took my jeans out of the packaging the first thing I did was the stretch test. This is an easy test you can do with any clothing that has elastic. Take the fabric, while it isn't on your body, and stretch and release it. If the fabric snaps back quickly it has excellent recovery. However, if the fabric doesn't snap back into shape quickly, or you notice the fabric looks stretched out after testing it, the recovery is bad and is a good indicator that it won't wear well and that your clothing will bag out by day's end. When I tested my Simply Stretch Modern Skinny Jeans they bounced back perfectly. So much for the theory that you can only get good fit from expensive jeans.

Putting them on the jeans felt great, were extremely comfortable and I knew that the perfect wear test would be me spending the day with a client where I would be bending and stretching and moving all day. I am happy to report that the jeans passed this test with flying colors. Yes the jeans are super stretchy, but not so stretchy that you feel like you have poured your body into them. I didn't hike them up all day or have to fuss with them. The fabric is soft and the jeans aren't too thick or bulky yet they are still really durable. Lastly, how I looked in them. I looked great. The fit of these jeans were what I expect from a pair of skinny jeans. They're slim through the hip and thigh and really make my butt look great, or as great as my butt can look. It's not my best body part, I admit.

There are limitless ways to style jeans in the fall. Once the cool weather hits I live in mine. I'm excited to break out some of my favorite pieces from last fall to wear with my new skinny jeans, like my reversible cashmere duster, paisley scarf, my chambray shirt, these lace-up fabulous booties, my wood watch and these simple jewelry pieces. If skinny jeans aren't for you, be sure to check out the other Signature by Levi Strauss & Co.™ styles. They all come in stretchy denim for all day comfort. The Simply Stretch Modern Bootcut is great for those who prefer a fit and flare look or are looking to balance out large hips and thighs and the curvy styles, Simply Stretch Curvy Skinny and Simply Stretch Curvy Boot Cut both have contour waists to eliminate gaping. At the super affordable price of around $19.95 for Signature by Levi Strauss & Co.™ jeans you really can't beat it. And I'm not just recommending these jeans to those who are on a budget and can't afford more expensive jeans. They truly rival many of the pricier options out there and will make a great addition to any fall wardrobe.
