Shower Outdoors, Tub-Hammock Hybrids, and Astrological Design – It’s the Weekly Round-Up!

By Jakemontgomery @LTDOnlineStores

Now that summer is officially in full tilt, we’ve been working hard to stay cool. And one of our favorite ways to stay cool is to read about cool new trends in bathroom furniture design (in front of an enormous, you-gotta-be-kidding-me electric fan). Was that line cheesy? That line was cheesy. Moving on!

It’s the end of another week, so we’ve got another Weekly Round-Up ready for you. This one’s all about keeping it cool (and also, improving your tax situation… because what’s cooler than remodeling a home and getting financially rewarded for it?).

You’ll read all about: inspiring outdoor baths and showers to keep you clean and comfortable in the summer heat, decorating your interior according to your Zodiac sign (hey – some people swear by it), how improving a home can improve your tax situation, Fourth-of-July bathroom design tips, and the epitome of bathroom relaxation with a bathtub that’s influenced by… hammock design? Yup, sounds like another Weekly Round-up!

Time to kick it off!

1. 15 Awesome Outdoor Showers and Baths

Makes you kind of want to play the banjo and sing while you soap up, doesn't it?

Sometimes we wish Apartment Therapy didn’t churn out such awesome content all the time, because we tend to share their articles a lot in our Weekly Round-Ups and it feels a bit repetitive. But then, if they didn’t, we wouldn’t get such gems as this: an awesome pictorial on some beautiful outdoor bathroom renditions! Check out all the images and be sure to click their corresponding links for more information on each set up. We particularly like the steel basin designs with the green foliage and the wooden decks; such a classic design, with such a clear, cohesive union of design and Nature, form and function. While none of us at TWI have outdoor bathrooms of our own, looking through these pictures (and sweating bullets despite sitting mere feet from the A/C vents) we are all seriously considering the benefits.

2. The Vessel Tub: Lounge and Lather in Style

the VESSEL tub is a hammock. And a tub. Hammock. Tub. Whatever.

An alternative title: “The Vessel Tub: Because You Didn’t Even Know That You Wanted a Bathtub Shaped Like a Hammock”! Not only is this fascinating design immensely eye-appealing (if a little impractical), but it looks extremely comfortable, too. Perfect for relaxing and rejuvenating your body after a long day! Designed by UK company SplinterWorks, stainless steel bolts keep this solid and sleek bathtub in place and floor-installed drainage just beneath the basin gets rid of water when you’re done. Oh, and did we mention the tub is made from carbon fiber? That’s right, this bathtub is super lightweight, super strong, and super modern. Check it out!

3. How Improving a Home Can Improve Your Tax Situation

Remodeling your home can be great for your taxes! Seriously!

We can’t imagine working hard on a home remodeling project in this heat, but according to HuffPo’s Mark Steber, summer is indeed the Season of Home Improvement! Everyone knows that remodeling a home increases its value (and also, gives you that unbeatable sense of personal satisfaction); but did you know that remodeling and improving your home can also help lower future tax liability? You can claim many tax benefits from your remodeling project if you’re savvy – so, let’s get savvy! Read the full article (it’s not long) and be on your way to smarter tax control with your latest renovations!

4. Astrological Home Design

This design scheme makes Mike question the legitimacy of the Zodiac system

Finally, you can have a star-studded interior that was predestined for greatness! Or, at the very least, you can check out this article and maybe get some good ideas for your next design updates in your bathroom, bedroom, and beyond. Nicole Balch takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to how we make design decisions and presents suggestions for every sign on the Zodiac calendar. What do you think, are these presumed preferences accurate? In related news, today I discovered that… despite being an Aries… I actually have more in common, at least in terms of aesthetic preferences, with Capricorns. Ack! Identity Crisis!

5. Decorating Your Bathroom for the Fourth of July

(Oh, and just in case you need the reminder, Independence Day is next week – time to pick up some hot dogs, sparklers, and personal fan-misters).

That’s it for this week. We hope you’ve enjoyed our favorite articles, and we hope you have a very fun and safe Fourth of July! See you next week for another Weekly Round-Up!

The Weekly Round Up is curated by . Mike can’t decide if he prefers bathtubs or hammocks, and the VESSEL tub, ironically, doesn’t make the decision any easier – he has nothing against showering outdoors, however. Zodialogically, He is an Aries (probably).
