Monday, September 17, British pop artist Anne-Marie, accompanied by Canadian singer-songwriter Goody Grace, took the stage at a sold-out Bowery Ballroom show.

This was one of two NYC shows for them both and it was an absolute joy to see these artists on stage. A cheery and youthful Goody Grace performed a short acoustic set that surely made him some new fans. He also performed a heartfelt cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Castle on the Hill.”

I was completely enamored by Anne-Marie as soon as she hit the stage. She was funny and charming as she consistently interacted with the crowd, making jokes and interrupting her own set to grab a few gifts from the crowd. She was also sensitive and emotional as she made it through some of the more vulnerable songs of her set.

Standout songs were definitely “2002,” “Let Me Live (ft. Major Lazor, Rudimental, and Mr. Eazi),” and “Then,” the latter being one of the aforementioned vulnerable songs. You could hear the emotion in her voice as she sang about the intricacies of a bad breakup. Anne-Marie is a powerhouse vocalist and I was impressed by how her voice filled the room.

Anne-Marie excelled at making you feel welcome, happy, and like you’d gained a new best friend. If you ever get the chance to see Anne-Marie perform, I highly recommend it.
