Serena Williams is celebrating her mother and sisters, whom the tennis star says are a vital part of her life.
In an Instagram post Thursday morning, Serena Williams shared a pic from inside her Vogue cover of her mother, and sisters posing in PJ’s with her and daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian, Jr.
Serena shared with her followers that the women have a close bond, and credits them with keeping her humble.
“Women. They are so prominent strong and vital to my life. My mom raised 5 women (one passed) and 3 grand children. I love this photo because we have a close bond. This is what keeps me humble. They are not afraid to tell me anything after all I am the youngest of 5. I’m so happy Olympia has my mom as her grandma (of course she has Alexis Stepmom as well) and I“m happy she has aunts like my sisters Venus , Isha , Lyn and Alexis’ sisters Amy and Hayley.”
Inside her Vogue February cover, Serena shares that her mother, Oracene Price, has been staying in Florida to help her with Alexis. Serena shared with the publication that her mother is making the case for a strict parenting style.
“Obedience brings protection; that’s what my mom told me,” Serena says. “That’s straight from the Bible, and she wrote it down on paper and gave it to me. I was always obedient: Whatever my parents told me to do, I did. There was no discussion. Maybe I had a little rebellious phase in my 20s, when I tried liquor for the first time. Maybe having a baby on the tennis tour is the most rebellious thing I could ever do.”
