We love otters. Who doesn’t, really?

Otters re-exploded into our consciousness this week with “Otters who look like Benedict Cumberbatch” (a much friendlier comparison than, say, “Sarah Jessica Parker looks like a horse”). All those adorable otters, even the one with the angry Benedict Cumberbatch face, came from The Daily Otter, a site that does exactly what it says on the tin: A daily picture of an otter.

Just a few words on otters: There are 13 species of these semi-aquatic mammals scattered across the world, and, despite their inherent adorableness, many of those are endangered, according to the International Otter Survival Fund. Some otters are known to use rocks as tools to crack open shells, and look, they even hold hands!
