Tagged as lo-fi folk-pop on Bandcamp, Los Angeles solo project Kissed Her Little Sister is not to be pigeonholed. If you love harmonicas, synths, acoustic guitars, crickets, mandolins and saxophones (I’m totally digging the Twin Peaks-y intro on “That Was Only Wasting Time”), you are going to love Sailor — Kissed Her Little Sister’s relatively recent second album and follow-up to last year’s High & Low. While the instrumentation might seem a little eclectic, Kissed Her Little Sister weaves it all together with some clever, heartfelt lyrics and overdriven, harmonized vocals reminiscent of Bon Iver or Woods. Speaking of which, these guys would sound awesome together in a playlist designated for growing beards, camping, and wearing flannel.
