Say Goodble to Acne Breakouts: LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence Review

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

Regular readers of my blog know how much I suffered from acne breakout and how I got rid of them but if you have acne-prone skin like mine, then you know it's a never-ending fight. Thus I'm always on a look-out for the best products to prevent them and keep them calm during my period, and that's when I stumbled upon Leegeehaam (formerly known a Leejiham but since they haven't rebrand this product yet, I'll stick to the old name) thanks to some skincare influencers and Reddit's Asian Beauty Community. But did it live up to my expectations? Keep reading my LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence review to know more.

But first what is Leegeehaam (formerly Leejiham or LJH)?

LJH is a South Korean-based brand that has a range of cosmetics developed by the first-ever dermatologist Lee Ji Ham in Korea. Among his many achievements, Dr. Lee was known and highly appreciated for treating sensitive, troubled and uneven skin tones, hence the birth of his many super serums including this one.

WHAT IS IT?

LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence is a super lightweight serum with 90% Tea Tree extract to soothe and hydrate sensitive, irritated and troubled skin. For all skin types. This essence works to treat skin that is sensitive, irritated, or troubled and controls sebum. This water-free treatment also contains Trehalose, which helps to bind moisture to the skin, as well as Sea Buckthorn extract and Centella Asiatica, which help to even skin tone and visibly improve skin texture.

Lastly, it is free of parabens, silicones, colorants, alcohol, mineral oils and water. You can check the ingredients in its CosDNA analysis on this page.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: The dermatologists from Lee Ji Ham recommend to use this serum immediately after cleansing and toning to help seal in moisture to the skin. So I use this after cleansing and toning. Spread a pea size amount onto skin in an outwards motion. Follow with a moisturizer. And I highly recommend to always use a sunscreen or BB Cream with SPF during the daytime.

SCENT: It's unscented. I actually don't smell anything from this essence even those generic scent we often smell on those so-called unscented products. This actually reminds me of Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence.

PACKAGING: For its price, it actually has a decent glass bottle that feels a little luxurious. So be careful not to drop it with your moisturized hands! The pipette (dropper) works fine and does not feel cheap unlike other high end-priced products like this Huxley Essence. This also comes with a box which has the same design and labels as the bottle.

FORMULA: The formula is indeed lightweight, non-oily and does not have any color, perfect for those people with oily and acne-prone skin. It also absorbs quickly into the skin thus you can also use this for the 7-Method if your skin is a dehydrated.

RESULT: I have been using LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence for over two weeks now at the most crucial time for my skin: pre, during, and post-period. Right now I'm on "during" my red days and usually, I already have annoying huge red pimples on my both my cheeks that will leave a dark spot after I cured it but right now, I only have one tiny red pimple that I took care of just using my CosRx Acne Pimple Master Patch! So take note everyone, if you have acne-prone skin, really go for products that contain Tea Tree because it's anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial.

I also love that this hydrates and moisturizes my oily skin, especially without the sticky and heavy feeling. Perfect for those who live in a humid country. And it's even moisturizing enough for those colder seasons when the air is a bit dry. I don't proclaim this often in my product reviews but I super love this product! A pea-sized drop goes a long way so I can see myself using this single bottle for up to six months.

VERDICT

PROS: It really prevented my pesky breakout during my "red days" and calmed my present pimple. It hydrates, moisturizes, and I think it also controls my sebum. It does really clear my skin.

CONS: It can be pricey for some people's budgets. But a pea-sized drop can go a long way.

WHERE TO BUY?

I bought my LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence in The Skincare Curator for Php1200. But you can also buy this in KBeauty Cafe for Php1400. But if you live in the US, you can purchase this in Glow Recipe for $45, and also on Amazon for $39.99 which includes the Tea Tree 80 Cream.
