Salted Egg Halo-Halo and Other Affordable Meals at BEN’S Halo-Halo, Quezon City

Attention Quezon City peeps! Laguna's creamiest halo-halo is finally here. Would you like to try their amazing and unique halo-halo variations?

All you need to do is visit 3 Joroma Place which is at 652-C Congressional Avenue in Quezon City. Once you reach Congressional Avenue, just look for Phoenix Gas Station. Right behind it is the building called 3 Joroma Place where BEN'S Halo-Halo is located.

The Restaurant

BEN'S Halo-Halo first opened its doors in a small neighbourhood in San Pablo, Laguna. But who is Ben exactly? Well, I did a little research online and spoke to the staff and found out it is owned by Ben Pasco.

He is a former OFW who worked at Italy where he got his inspiration. You see, he levelled up our classic Pinoy dessert with an Italian touch simply by mixing in gelato in the shaved ice. Genius, eh?

But he did not stop there! Besides the classic halo-halo, there are also flavours like sili which they call Spicy Winter and salted egg which they call Salty Summer. And just because their name only mentions the classic Pinoy dessert doesn't mean they don't have other dishes.

In fact, my family and I had a lovely lunch here last weekend. Let me share with you...

The Food

BEN'S Halo-Halo has a simple menu which consists of pika-pika, sandwiches, rice meals, pasta and coolers. On our first visit, we got the following:

Fries BBQ (PHP 50)

As mentioned, they have a simple menu but all the food we ordered was tasty. I personally love the Chicken BBQ and the french fries! WhenI'm craving for fries, I'll definitely choose theirs over fast-food restaurants.

Moreover, the serving was ample and the price is very affordable. You really get what you pay for. The only problem we encountered is the tocino. It needs to be a little bit tender.

It's also worth mentioning that the Salty Summer or halo-halo with salted egg was amazing. I've never tasted anything like it. When I read it on the menu, I found it a bit weird. But then I'm the type who would put a dash of salt on an apple and enjoys eating Lindt Excellence 85% Cocoa as is. In short, I did not hesitate much and ordered it.

Honestly, it was so good. The salted egg works well with BEN'S classic halo-halo especially with the gelato mixture in the shaved ice. The texture was smooth and creamy but very intact and the flavours complement each other. My family and I really enjoyed every bite. As a matter of fact, we are going back to try their sili halo-halo called Spicy Winter. While we're there, we might also try their Burgetti which is burger and spaghetti in one!

Would you like to try their Salted Egg Halo-Halo, too? You can find BEN'S Halo-Halo at 3 Joroma Place, 652-C Congressional Avenue Quezon City.

Their Quezon City branch just opened last month, December 2019. It's spacious, clean and well-ventilated. The building also has a basement parking.

But if you will be commuting, you can ride the Tandang Sora - Visayas Avenue jeepney, the NPC-NIA via Congressional/ Mindanao Avenue jeepney or the Munoz - Luzon jeepney. Just tell the driver you're going to Jollibee - Phoenix Gas Station. They will drop you off to the right place and it will only take you a few steps.

Happy eating!

*They are not yet listed on Zomato so here's my rating ⅘ stars.
