Shine Bright Like A Diamond. Rihanna has finished her deal with Def Jam and switching to Jay Z’s record label Roc Nation. She already signed up for the management, but now she has inked a new deal to be their artist, making her one of the biggest artist on their roster.
Complex was first to point out that Def Jam’s website listed Rihanna under the “Legacy” artist section. Roc Nation’s website was also updated to reflect that she is signed to the company as an artist, where she has been managed since 2010. A source at Def Jam confirmed the reports to MTV News. The label change occurred in April 2013, when Roc Nation partnered with Universal Music Group. While she is now technically a Roc Nation artist, Def Jam will still help market, promote, and distribute her music. According to Billboard, Def Jam recently met with the singer to discuss her plans, while an official announcement on her next album is expected “soon.”
