REVIEW & SWATCHES │Wet’n’Wild Color Icon Palette in Comfort Zone

Hello lovelies,

I’m not afraid to admit that I’m a bit of an eyeshadow snob. My experience with drugstore eyeshadows haven’t been as good – Catrice is hit or miss, Essence (the ones I’ve tried) is miss – the only nice affordable eyeshadows were Artdeco and Inglot. I’ve heard a lot about Wet’n’Wild eyeshadows – some reviews said they were horrible, some raved about them. With such a varied reviews, I needed to try the eyeshadows to make the decision.

While browsing Wet’n’Wild stand I noticed a nice green duochrome eyeshadow which was a part of Comfort Zone palette. The rest of the shades seemed nice, so I decided to pick the palette. The palette retails for 49,90 kunas (around $9) in Croatia.

Comfort Zone contains 8 eyeshadows, divided into two columns. The left column contains brownish neutrals, while the right column contains green color scheme. On each eyeshadow the embossing lets you know how you can use it: on browbone, lid, crease or as a definer.

Browbone colours are pale warm beige and light gray.

Eyelid colours are pale warm pink and light grass green.

Crease colours are goldish brown and dark olive green.

Definer colours are dark brown and green/red duochrome.

All shades are shimmery. Pigmentation is generally pretty good, although I’ve noticed that two shades (left definer and right crease colour) didn’t swatch well, but they worked just fine on the eye.

The eyeshadows are buttery soft, but they pack up a lot of powder, even at the lightest touch of the brush. They blend easily.

What really impressed me with these eyeshadows is that they last all day without the primer. I have oily lids (although they became slightly drier lately) and a primer is a must. Well, not with Wet’n’Wild. I did a comparison test – one eye with and one without a primer. I tested it on a pretty hot day plus I wore it during work-out. If I put any other eyeshadow without the primer, I’d be lucky if it stayed on longer than three hours. Eyeshadows from Comfort Zone lasted 12 hours without creasing and with just a slight fading.

The only difference the primer makes is that it makes the eyeshadow look nicer, smoother, like a high end eyeshadow, right upon the application. Without the primer, I can see that it looks slightly powdery. The powderiness disappears after an hour and after that I could not see the difference. There’s a bit of fall-out, but nothing too dramatical.

Here’s how it looks without the primer after 10 hours. I used the shades from the palette for the testing and didn’t use the mascara.

I am seriously impressed. The only minus I can find is that some might find it too shimmery, but the shimmer doesn’t bother me. I hope this palette never gets discontinued (and that they launch right definer shade as a single). I definitely need to check more Wet’n’Wild eyeshadows. They are a true bargain.

Did you try Wet’n’Wild products?

xoxo Tamara
