Review: SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque

By Savvybrown @savvybrownblog

I was visiting my mom when I happened to be in Target and saw SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque on sale. (Whew. That’s a mouthful!) Since I really needed to wash my hair and it had been a couple of weeks since my last DC. I decided to try it.

SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque – 12oz $11.99

Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Cetyl Alcohol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*, Glycerin (Vegetable), Stearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Panthenol, Trichilia Emetica (Mafura) Seed Oil, Honey, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Fragrance (Essential Oil Blend), Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Oil, Cetrimonium Chloride, Persea Gratissma (Avocado) Oil, Ficus (Fig) Extract, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter *, Tocopherol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Butylene Glycol Butter *

As usual I deep conditioned as a pre-poo (before washing my hair) by separating my hair into about7 sections and dampening the hair a bit with water before adding about a quarter-sized amount of Shea Moisture Honey and Mafura Oi Hair Masque to each section. First of all, this stuff has crazy slip. Which was awesome, since I don’t comb my hair anymore, it made it simpIe to rake my fingers through my hair. After the product was fully applied, I covered my hair with a plastic bag and a scarf and let it do it’s thing for about 1 hour.

Even before I washed it out I could tell my hair was softer and then after I washed and styled my hair the softness was still there. It also didn’t take much product to be effective. SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hair Masque doesn’t have parabens, sulfates, cones, , mineral oil, phtalates, or DEA nor does it test on animals. BUT it does contain Behentrimonium Methosulfate and Butylene Glycol which I am not a fan of. (Although it is listed last on the ingredients list BG is a petroleum product). This product is part of Shea Moisture’s “Community Commerce” line, which gives a portion of the proceeds to women-led businesses and charities like the Sofi Tucker Foundation. The container is also made from 25% post-consumer resin.
RATING: 4 Savvy!* – Great price, good performing product, conscious company, ok ingredients
You can buy this product from Target. (Hurry! it’s on sale and they will also give you a free gift card!)
