Jake: ‘at last, a good move’

Let Salut! Sunderland reproduce, word for word, tonight’s statement from SAFC. I had an inkling something was afoot when the pleasant ticketline girl taking my order for Saturday’s game said ‘watch the site … there may be some good news’. My refund will go to the Grace House charity and I urge any other supporters able to do so to follow suit …

Travelling supporters who attended defeat at Southampton offered ticket refunds.

Sunderland’s players have today offered to refund supporters the cost of their match tickets, as well as supporting a local charity, following Saturday’s defeat to Southampton.

Fans who do not wish to claim a personal refund will have the cost of their ticket donated to Sunderland-based children’s charity Grace House, which provides respite services for children and young people throughout the North East region, who have life-shortening conditions for which there is no known cure.

Speaking on behalf of the squad, Sunderland AFC’s captain John O’Shea said: “We win and lose as a team, players, staff and fans, however we wanted to acknowledge and thank the supporters who traveled such a long way to give us their backing and despite everything, stayed with us until the final whistle.”

Anyone wishing to claim a refund should contact the club before 5pm on Wednesday 5th November.

Mine is yours @GraceHouse10 Hope others do the same #safc @SunderlandAFC Not martyrdom, just a sense of proportion

Supporters are kindly asked to return their match ticket either in person at the Stadium of Light ticket office or by post: SAFC (Refunds), PO Box 165, Sunderland, SR5 1WF. Supporters must enclose name and address details, along with their customer number.

After the November 5 deadline, the outstanding money not claimed by supporters will be given to Grace House.
