Story: Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire starts as Kora (Boutella) has been living in a small farming community. She has been taken in as an adopted daughter and escaped her former military life. One day, their lives are thrown into turmoil when Atticus Noble (Skrein) arrives. He demands their harvest, which would leave them starved.
Kora must bring back her military lifestyle and team up with farmer Gunnar (Huisman) to find a group of rebels to fight back. The pair create a small army including Kai (Hunnam), Tarak (Nair) and Nemesis (Doona). They all come from different backgrounds, but all have the same enemy.
Verdict on Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire
Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire is a sci-fi action movie following a former soldier teaming up with fellow fallen soldiers to fight back against an imperial leader. It sees her traveling the galaxy looking for the best recruits. However, the journey brings out bigger secrets about her true identity.
This is a movie that gets to build the world we are going to be living in for a while. It shows the heroic nature of Kora and the villainous actions of Atticus. We get a mix of different fighters from different worlds who need motivations to return to action. However, that is going to be the biggest weakness of the movie. It places more time on world-building, and it leaves the story feeling incomplete, despite Part Two being due in a few months. The cast is great and we get a typical high-quality series of action sequences from a Zack Snyder movie.
