1. I was lucky enough on Saturday to attend Emma’s Parker’s walking tour – London’s secret history of street food.

Presidential Apartments (see my review here) has partnered with Emma of Coutours (www.coutours.co.uk), a local guide, knowledgeable history buff and authority on some of the best hidden foodie hotspots in Zone One.Some of the best food in London isn’t found in expensive restaurants. It’s served on plastic plates, in paper napkins or between slices of crusty bread – on the street.

2. First stop on the ‘London’s Secret History of Street Food Tours’ was Borough Market, the oldest food market in London dating back to the 13th century and a hive of activity. Emma will lead the way through the market’s historic winding passages, past the eye-boggling displays and deafening calls from traders.

Next we were led to Rope Walk/Maltby St Market, which began life under the railway arches in Bermondsey in 2010 and has since grown into a full-blown gastronomic haven – many global food trends have emerged here.

3. Here is a slide show of some pictures of this excellent tour. Emma is lively, quirky and interesting and you couldn’t get bored on one of her tours.

4. The ‘London’s Secret History of Street Food Tours’ will take place on Saturday mornings and are available to guests staying at Presidential Apartments’ luxury serviced apartment suites.

5. Prices are £28pp based on a min of 2, or £75 for a family of 2 adults and up to 3 children. Prices do not include travel costs, but do include a complimentary hot drink and some small bites of food along the tour.

Tour groups will be collected from the Apartments’ location in West London at 10am and will finish by 1pm. Tour groups will travel by public transport and on foot and will be a maximum of ten people.

Places can be booked via Emma Parker on 07934 781056.
