New York-based composer, Porcelain Raft, released a dreamy new track yesterday taken from his upcoming sophomore record, Permanent Signal, to be released this fall. For the new record, Mauro Remiddi sold all of the instruments used in making last year’s debut, Strange Weekend, and started from scratch so as to create with an entirely new “color palette” that he describes as “far more organic”. Remiddi also recruited some stellar friends for the recording: Yuck’s Jonny Rogoff on drums, The Antlers’ Darby Cicci on bass, and The National and Sufjan Stevens collaborator, Gaspar Claus, on cello.

“Think of the Ocean” features strings and a simple piano melody atop eerily abrasive, droning synths and drums for an atmospheric and, ultimately, soothing salve of a track. Listen to the woozy, trance-inducing new song in the video above, visuals also by Remiddi. Permanent Signal drops August 20.
