Patron of Brentwood Theatre Judy Munford Auctions Jewelry for Billsbabes Day 2012

Posted on the 15 April 2012 by Thevault @The_Vault

Stephen Moyer is the first patron of Brentwood Theatre but not the only one. Judy Munford is also a patron of the theater and a very talented jewelry maker as well. This weekend Judy won the jewelry GBUK competition at the Flame Off bead show in Towcester.

Judy is a past performer at Brentwood theater with Brentwood Operatic Society of which Stephen’s mother is chairman. She did not perform with the group in the same period as Stephen and she still enjoys attending their shows as often as she can and helping out the BOS and BOSSY youth group by painting scenery when she’s asked to join in.

I asked her why she started making jewelry and what her inspiration is:

“I started making jewelry as I was fed up of buying pieces that broke – my pieces are all as secure as I can possibly make them as I am so heavy handed and have a busy job teaching during the day, I cant be worrying about decorative aspects when there are little people to teach! That was just two years ago and now it is a wonderful hobby that I hope to be a future new career in a few years time. My inspiration comes from the wonderful world of lampworking* where I have met so many great people – I now buy their focal beads to use for my jewelry but increasingly I am making these myself and having tremendous fun with the flame!!”

*Lampworking is a type of glasswork that uses a gas fueled torch to melt rods and tubes of clear and colored glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements.

Judy normally sells her pieces for various charities at the local Welsh Craft and farmers markets. On her website you can see her paintings and etchings www.doodlecraft.com, she is also on Facebook.

We are very happy that Judy has offered four pieces to auction off for Billsbabes Day for the Stephen Moyer Kids Theatre Fund of Brentwood Theatre.
