Painful Lump in Armpit: Home Remedies for Male & Female

Have you ever had a lump in your armpit and experienced pain as a result of this? These lumps are caused due to the swelling of lymph nodes. Swollen lymph node means you are fighting an infection. In some rare cases it can also mean you are suffering from cancer. If the lumps do not away, you should consult a doctor. If the lump is not cancerous, then you can treat it with some home remedies.

Armpit Lumps Home Remedies:

Apple cider vinegar:

You need apple cider vinegar, water and cotton cloth for this treatment. Take equal quantities of apple cider vinegar and water and mix them in a bowl. Dip a cotton cloth in it and place it on the affected area for 5 to 7 minutes. Now remove the cloth and rinse it in warm water. Pat dry the area. You can also add a teaspoon of ACV and honey to a glass of water and drink it every morning. This will give you better results.

Charcoal poultice or compress:

You need a teaspoon of activated charcoal, ½ teaspoon of flaxseed powder, water and paper towel for this treatment. Mix the two powders and add water to get a thick paste. Now you have to put this paste on a paper towel and place it on the affected area. Let it remain there for 10 to 15 minutes. You can apply this on the affected area every day every couple of hours.

Contrast bath therapy:

You need warm water, cold water and 2 buckets or tubs. First you have to submerge your armpit in warm water for 3 or 4 minutes. Then you have to submerge it in cold water for 2 minutes. Repeat this process four to five times. If you find it difficult to submerge your armpit in the tub, then you can dip one cloth each in warm and cold water and place them for two minutes one by one. Repeat this twice a day.

Garlic:

You need 2 to 3 cloves of garlic and a glass of lukewarm water. Crush or chop the garlic cloves and mix it with a glass of lukewarm water. Drink this first when you get up in the morning. You can also add garlic to various dishes you make and have it.  Drink this every day in the morning, till you are able to get rid of the infection in the body.

Lemon juice:

You need fresh lemon juice, water and cotton ball for this treatment. Take equal quantities of water and lemon juice and mix them well. Now apply this on the lump of your armpit with a cotton ball. Let it air dry. You can also drink one or two teaspoons of lemon juice after adding it to a glass of lukewarm water. Have it every morning.

Massage:

You need olive oil or coconut oil for this. Take a drop of the oil and massage the armpit area with your fingertips. You can use circular motions and upward and downward strokes. Keep massaging for a few minutes.

Nutmeg:

Take ½ teaspoon of nutmeg powder, 1 teaspoon of honey and a cup of hot water.  Add honey and nutmeg to the water and mix well. Drink this water when it is still warm. Drink this every day to remove the lumps.

Onion:

Take an onion and extract the juice from it. Gulp down the juice. You can also add some of your favorite vegetables for making it tastier. Have one glass of this onion and vegetable juice every day.

Turmeric:

You need 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and a cup of hot milk. Mix the turmeric with hot milk well and drink it every day. You can also add turmeric to water and make a paste, and apply it on the lump. Let it dry for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash it off with water. Apply this twice a day t get positive results.

Vitamin A:

Vitamin A is great for the immune system of your body. It is effective for the T-cell and B-cell migrations and activity. It is also needed for the lymphocyte function. When your body lacks Vitamin A, it can increase the chances of an infection in the lymph nodes. So, include foods rich in Vitamin A in your diet to prevent and treat armpit lumps. Carrots and papaya are good sources of Vitamin A.

Vitamin E:

Take a Vitamin E capsule with water. You can have one capsule every day to get rid of the painful lump.

Warm water therapy:

For this you need a towel and hot water. Soak the towel in hot water and remove the excess water. Now place the towel on the affected armpit for 10 to 15 minutes. You can do this two or three times a day.

Watermelon:

Have a glass of chilled watermelon juice with your breakfast every day.

Tips for Clean and Healthy Armpits:

Analyze your caffeine intake:

Avoiding caffeine is an effective way to heal lumps faster. So, avoid coffee and tea, as well as colas.

Maintain clean armpits:

Armpits sweat a lot. So take care to keep the area dry and clean to reduce infection, disease and swelling. This will heal the lumps faster. If the lump is caused due to bacterial infection, then you can treat it effectively with proper hygiene.

Stop eating foods that cause pain:

Keep a note on the foods that increase the pain and swelling in the lumps, and avoid them. This will help in healing the lumps faster.

Staying hydrated is important:

Drink lots of water and keep your body well hydrated to ensure proper circulation of blood. This will help in reducing the painful lumps.

Stop eating spicy foods:

Oily and spicy foods can cause sweating of the underarms, which can lead to bacterial growth. So, avoid these foods to prevent bacterial growth and to heal lumps faster.
