I got my hands on a few products from the brand and today I’m reviewing their Shimmer Eye Bases (Rs 585) in 01 Gold and 02 Sunset Gold, they claim to be dupes of MAC Paint Pots (Rs 1400).

What are Shimmer Eye Bases?Shimmer Eye Bases are basically cream eye shadow formulations that comes packed in a small glass pot and can be used as an eye shadow base or alone and further top it with powder eye shadows. PackagingPAC Shimmer Eye Bases comes packed in a small glass pot and shade no. mentioned at the bottom. The outer cardboard packaging comes with all the necessary details – price, ingredients, how to use, best before, etc. Personally I don’t like pot packaging, since dipping my fingers is so unhygienic, hence I use a cotton bud for taking out the product.

Texture & PigmentationThe Shimmer Eye bases have fairly soft and smooth texture; there is no dryness or tug in the formula. It glides smoothly on the eyes and dries down to a smudge proof finish within a minute of application. Because of the dry texture, it helps any eye shadow you apply on top of it stay crease free and vibrant for long time. When they dry down, they give a papery look to the skin which may not be noticeable on younger women but older women would not find it flattering it enhances the wrinkles and folds of the lid. PAC Eye bases are moderately pigmented and one needs to layer the product for the color to show up.

Shades I ownShimmer Base 01 is packed with micro shimmer so it’s a slight gritty in texture but not uncomfortable. 01 is a gorgeous yellow gold with lots of gold shimmer, it’s one of my favorite shades for easy eye makeup looks and I love how the shimmer catches the light when I wear this as an eye shadow. The shade would flatter warm/tanned complexion pretty well.

Shimmer Base 02 sort of a peachy/rose gold with lots of golden shimmers with a high metallic shine. The shimmers are non-gritty or chunky but finely distributed in the product to give a metallic effect. The shade is both gorgeous and versatile. It can be paired with a lot of colors to create any kind of look or it can be worn alone all over the lid with just kohl and mascara for an everyday look.

Staying PowerPAC Shimmer bases stays 4 hours with minimal creasing, applying powder eye shadows on top enhances the wear time.

Overall VerdictPAC cosmetics shimmer eye bases have fairly smooth texture, shimmer is fine and non-gritty, applies evenly on lids, moderately pigmented, stays on without creasing or fading and can be used as base or worn alone. For beginners, MAC Paint Pots are very expensive; hence I would suggest trying this out instead.
