POSSESSION SUCCESS-RATES
The Montreal Canadiens numbers from 2011-12 are used as comparables because those numbers contain a full season's worth of data.
The Oilers were far less successful moving the puck out of the defensive-zone against San Jose than they were in the Vancouver game. That said, their numbers were still substantially higher than the average posted by Montreal last season.
The Oilers were more successful moving the puck through the neutral-zone against San Jose. Comparing their neutral-zone play in the two games, the Oilers completed 5 more neutral-zone passes against the Sharks, while improving their success-rate beating opposing players 1on1 (deke) by an impressive 34 percentage-points (45% to 79%)
