NRA ‘shames’ Orgs, People with ‘anti-gun Policies’ in Smut List

The National Rifle Association keeps it classy, as always, its political lobbying arm boasting what seems like a quite extensive hit list. It includes more than 500 entities and people.

The title of the list is a euphemism. They don’t simply jot down organizations that oppose or otherwise don’t fall in line with the NRA’s party line. They include specific people, including celebrities, in what I guess is supposed to be the NRA’s version of a smut list.

Good to know that instead of being constructive and productive and not wasting anyone’s time trying to smear the whole notion of a gun debate, the NRA keeps itself busy and its base fired up by shaming not just faceless organizations but direct, specific people.

Among the celebs on the list are Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres.

But it’s not just celebrities that they have listed. There’s also clergymen, people in the finance industry, doctors, judges… And, naturally, journalists, as well. Oh, boo… they left me off the list. Can we get an update, please? They’ve also not yet placed Piers Morgan on there. Oh, and maybe some of the grieving parents from the Newtown school shooting that spoke in favor of gun control this week might make it on there, too, now. I wonder!

It’s so ridiculous. At least they didn’t list people’s home addresses but in the age of Google, all you have to do is type in a name to find out where they work. Which could make such a list a potential danger, considering there are gun nuts out there who truly do earn that title.

But then again, did anyone expect any different from these bottom-feeders? I certainly didn’t. When you have no shame, it’s no surprise that reason soon goes out the window, as well.
