The shock news that came out of the British Royal Family would not have been so much of a surprise for any Astrologer who looks at their Astrology charts. The announcement yesterday that the couple were "demoting themselves" and in effect denouncing their Royal titles to live both in North America and the UK happened on the eve of a Lunar Eclipse that as ever tells the story.
Firstly to Meghan. The eclipse for her happened in her secret hidden 12th house, so there will have been a calling for her in the next 6 months to have as much privacy as possible. This was also a decision made that was made behind closed doors and sprung on the world without notice. Even HM Queen found out through the press!!! That eclipsed Moon made one aspect, a square to Pluto. Pluto hits are all about "power and control" and this eclipse was telling her to take back power and control in house - appropriately Pluto sits in her 4th house of domestic affairs. Any aspect to a 4th house planet will affect the place where you live and the family around you, and Pluto is the planet of death and regeneration. This change of status within her family is very Pluto in the 4th house, taking back power to control her own life, as is moving home at the same time. On her chart, it rules her 5th house of individuality and of children, and I would bet my house on the fact that the plain motivating factor to move away was her son Archie and the ability to do her own thing. I think that Meghan has found the whole Royal Family experience very restrictive, as it would for any foreigner coming into the the most stuffy and regimented family in the UK.
In regards to Meghan, you'll see Saturn and Pluto in her 6th house of work and routine, and I'd bet the daily grind of shaking people's hands, opening new hospitals and putting on a fake smile was really getting to her. Those planets are heading towards her Descendant, and that is going to be a test for her and her husband Harry in the coming months, and if she thinks that the pressure is big now, just wait for those planets to start working on her marriage in 2020!! By March, Pluto will be conjunct to her Descendant and Saturn will be moving in her 7th house, and as she changes as a person (and she will), then Pluto will also change Harry too. These two planets will put all kinds of stress on their union, and I wonder if they will be together this time next year? Put your bets on right now...
As for Harry, he has an early Capricorn Ascendant, so Saturn and Pluto are in his 1st house and the eclipse is occurring in his 7th, the house for him that rules Meghan. The eclipse is making a couple of connections on his natal chart. Firstly a square to Venus sitting just in his 8th house of permanent change, ruling his 4th house (Taurus on cusp) of his family and the place where he lives, and his 9th house (Libra on cusp) of places abroad, foreign contacts and different cultures. The eclipse is also sextile to his Moon, sitting in that 4th house ruling his 7th house of relationships and marriage (Meghan). Meghan is everywhere over this eclipse for him and it stands to reason then that she is calling the shots on this decision. Remember too, she is the dominant Leo, and he is the timid Virgo. For Harry, there is no ego to fulfil, but for his wife, it's a completely different story. You'll notice that Jupiter is just about to enter Harry's 1st house, and the call of overseas will be something he will be attracted to, but for how long?
On Harry's chart, his 7th house is ruled by both Sun and Moon (Cancer on cusp and Leo within 7th house) and both these planets are picking up on trines from Saturn and Pluto. These trines will be having an effect on his marriage and slowly he will be changing as a person, as his personal attitudes mature. Jupiter on entering his first house and connecting with Saturn and Pluto will only accelerate that personal transformation. What I am saying is that as Meghan changes in the next year (Pluto on Descendant) so will Harry too (Pluto and Saturn transiting 1st house). Will the allure of each other start to fade away once they are out of the bubble of the Royal Family?
For Harry 2020 looks a very go-ahead year, but once Neptune starts to oppose his Sun in 2021 (remember the Sun has co-rulership over Meghan in his chart) then the fairytale marriage will seem like a distant memory. The summer of that year also sees him having a Saturn square natal Saturn and transiting Chiron will move over his Aries North Node and opposes Uranus. Suddenly he will be seeking more freedom while Meghan is still experiencing the final throes of that Pluto hit to her descendant. I would go as far as to say that I almost expect them to separate in the middle of next year.
