I’ve recently added a new photo –  Fusion & Zodiac Gerbera Daisies II – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

Gerbera Daisies – what can I say – I love them with their big bold shapes and bright colors. For the longest time I was really challenged photographing gerbera daisies since they can be difficult to grow and keep looking good in gardens in the mid-Atlantic region. I took so many photos of gerbera daisies that I wasn’t happy with. Now that I’ve started photographing flowers in my studio, I’m able to create photos of gerbera daisies that I love.

This is another photograph taken with the same flowers I used for Fusion & Zodiac Gerbera Daisies, Fusion Gerbera Daisy and Zodiac Gerbera Daisy – only this time instead of photographing the whole flowers, I just photographed the petals. I had arranged the flowers in a vase and was photographing the group but wasn’t happy with what I was seeing. As I looked at the arrangement of the flowers I realized what I liked best in that moment was how the yellow and orange petals looked right alongside each other. So I moved my tripod in closer, put my macro lens on my camera – and photographed just most of one yellow flower and parts of two orange flowers. Not only was the contrast between the orange and yellow wonderful to see – but by placing the yellow petals right next to the center of the orange flowers – it really brought out the yellow in the center of those flowers.

This photograph is available as a matted print. You can order Fusion & Zodiac Gerbera Daisies II from my website.
