Neighborhood News: Haddon Hall, 29 Commonwealth Avenue | December 13, 2017

As an organization that cares about the neighborhoods surrounding the Common, Garden and Mall, we know it is important to understand the details concerning any proposed development in the area. We are providing the following information for your greater understanding.

There is a proposed development of the 29 Commonwealth Avenue Club, also known as Haddon Hall. The location is the tall building on the corner of Berkeley Street and Commonwealth Avenue. Haddon Hall has been an office building since the 1920's with people there only during normal weekday business hours.

The new buyers of this building are proposing:

  • an 800-member for-profit private social club
  • a 17-room hotel
  • 356 bar and restaurant seats
  • a rooftop bar with amplified music until 11:00 pm
  • to eliminate existing parking on west side of Berkeley St. between the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Alley 423 for a loading zone and valet parking
