The Prime Minister of Pakistan who was overthrown by Nawaz Sharif will return from London next month after Eid al-Fitr to face the court, a senior PML-N leader said, the day after the government only issued a passport to the former Prime Minister three times to return to his country’s home.

The 72-year-old PML-N Supremo, to whom a number of corruption cases were launched by the government of former Minister Prime Imran Khan, left for London in November 2019 after the Lahore High Court gave him a four-week permit to go abroad.

Federal Minister Mian Javed Latif told reporters on Tuesday that the leader of the top Pakistani Muslim League (PML-N) would return after Eid al-Fitr and led the demonstration in Pakistan, The Express Tribune reported on Wednesday.

If it was not arrested at the time of arrival, Nawaz would most likely lead the demonstration planned by PML-N [to fight the Pakistani Tehreek-I-I-Insaf meeting. This should be led by Vice President of PML-N Maryam Nawaz from May 6, “he said.

Sharif was reportedly issued on Monday a passport by a new government led by his younger brother, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Eliminating the report that Maryam, Princess Nawaz Sharif, tried to escape from the country, the minister said that she was allowed to return from Saudi Arabia to lead the PML-N demonstration.

Minister Latif said that if Maryam was not allowed to travel, he would continue to hold as many constituent level meetings as possible.

Maryam began a mobilization journey on Tuesday, holding a party worker meeting in the NA 128 area in Lahore which is the electoral district of Rohil Ashgar. He was accompanied by the Chairman of Punjab Elected Hamza Shehbaz.

Putting the demonstration schedule, Latif said the first general meeting was scheduled for May 6 in Attock, the second for May 8 in Okara, then two in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa before one on May 15 in Vahari in Punjab.

He said the demonstration schedule was slightly different from what was previously known, adding that somewhere to the final leg, the party would begin preparations to welcome Sharif.

Some corruption cases have been launched by the previous government from the former Minister of Prime Khan against Sharif since his dismissal from the office by the Supreme Court in July 2017 in the Panama Papers case.

Before leaving for London, he had given an effort to the Lahore High Court to return to Pakistan, quoting his notes to face legal and justice processes within four weeks or as soon as he was declared healthy and suitable for traveling by a doctor.

Sharif was also guaranteed in the al-Azizia Mills corruption case where he served a seven-year prison sentence in the Lakhpat Lahore prison.

He has challenged his two beliefs in the Islamic Court of Islamabad, which will handle this issue as soon as he appears before the court.

The return of Sharif to Pakistan had become the headlines in the country after Khan became the first prime minister in the history of the country which was elected from power through a motion without trust.
