My Family Should Be a Top Priority, and So Lessons Of A Dad Will Take a Hiatus

By Lessonsofadad @lessonsofadad
You may be wondering why I haven’t been busy up in here much lately, so I’ll use this article to make it official: I’m going to have to take a hiatus from blogging and even from online life in general for a while.  I don’t know exactly how long, but I hope you understand why.
Part of the reason why I decided to do so is because of a message by one of my favorite speakers, Andy Stanley.  He was visited by Focus On The Family and they had a fantastic talk called Setting Your Family as the Highest Priority.
The talk was a factor that snapped me back into what has been blinding me for a while now: that I have a maddening amount of things on my plate and that my family has been on the losing end of all this busyness.
It’s a bitter irony that me putting effort in posting on Lessons Of A Dad (and other projects) has robbed my children from getting lessons from their dad.
My family should be a top priority, and so Lessons Of A Dad will take a hiatus I’ve done my kids a disservice by spending way too much time in front of my laptop.  And as a classic example of Children See, Children Do, what did my kids start doing?  They’ve been spending too much time in front of the computer screen as well.  They’re not bad kids, far from it…but I know I can do better as a dad, but I need to shave some things off to get that done.
So I need to take a hiatus from the online world.  This article will serve as my last piece for a while.  Don’t worry, folks.  I’m seeing this as a step backward so that I can take two steps forward.  I still have a lot, a LOT, to say…and I may surprise you with something new.
Therefore, feel free to subscribe to this blog and like me on Facebook, add me on Twitter, and all that.  Also check out my articles on parenting, marriage, ministry, and health/nutrition while you wait for my return.  I’ll see you soon.
