Moyes in the boys v West Ham Utd: “We needed Khazri”

Moyes on the boys

John McCormick writes: Post match, on radio five live, Fabio Borini hinted at dressing-room issues. When asked to elaborate he talked about injuries but did nothing else to explain. Was something lost in translation? You might think not, given the way  David Moyes manages to suggest everything’s hunky-dory in his post-match missive:

“I thought the boys played well today and from the first minute right until the last they did everything they possibly could do to get a result.

Their first goal was disappointing because we started the game well, we were on the front foot but within five we found ourselves a goal down.

Credit to the players for coming back and sticking at it. We played well in the first half and we deservedly went in at half-time drawing.

So, David, why’s he had so little playing time?

Wahbi [Khazri] is capable of that (kind of goal) from set-pieces. The wind was swirling around which was always going to make it either better or worse depending on how our deliveries were.

I thought Wahbi played well; he contributed to an all-round good team performance, we needed that and I’m glad to see it.

We worked hard and it looked like we needed something to go for us right at the end. We pushed, we tried hard, but ultimately we just couldn’t get a win.

I don’t think Billy’s injury is as bad as we first thought. He hit the ground bad, but I think he has just concussed himself and hopefully it won’t be as bad as we first feared.”
