That’s alright, you still have time.
To be honest, I am thrilled to see the second installment of The Hobbit series by Peter Jackson. After reading the news about the first full image of the scaled villain painted on a plane, my excitement was heightened. However, we should not forget to watch one or two Christmas movies with our loved ones.
Christmas comes only once a year. It’s the perfect time to sit on the couch and watch a special film. I listed five Christmas films that I grew up watching. (I can watch it over and over again.)
5. I’ll Be Home for Christmas

You should definitely be and that’s what Jake Wilkinson (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) is trying to do.
Jake is an 18-year-old boy attending Palisades Academy in California. He has not been home for Christmas since his mother died and his father remarried. But a few days before Christmas Eve, his father said that if he comes home by 6PM on the eve of Christmas, he will give him his vintage 1957 Porsche.
The problem is he traded in his two airline tickets to New York for Cabo San Lucas where he planned to take his girlfriend Allie (Jessica Biel). However, Allie always returns home for Christmas so, Jake trades the tickets back in for New York. A bigger problem, as Jake was about to leave he was taken captive by his foe Eddie Taffet (Adam LaVorgna) and friends. Jake was then left in the desert dressed as Santa Claus.
4. The Grinch

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas or simply The Grinch is a 2000 American Christmas film directed by Ron Howard and starred comedian Jim Carrey.
In Whoville city, the citizens celebrate Christmas except for the cynical and misanthropic Grinch (Jim Carrey). He despises Christmas and was never invited to any parties or celebrations. After Cindy Lou (Taylor Momsen), an 8 year old girl discovers the Grinch, she develops a certain interest about his history. She started asking everyone what they know about him and discovers his tragic past.
Determined to show him and the citizens the true meaning of Christmas, Cindy invites Grinch to be the main participant of the Whobilation.
3. The Santa Clause

This 1994 American fantasy has two sequels namely: The Santa Clause 2: The Mrs. Clause (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006). The first film, The Santa Clause is my favorite and actually the best of the three. It is directed by John Pasquin and starred Tim Allen as Scott Calvin, an ordinary man turned Santa Claus.
One night, Scott and his son Charlie was awakened by a clatter on the roof. Scott went out and tried to catch the trespasser’s attention. The man startled fell down and vanished, leaving his clothing behind. Scott and Charlie then discover a sleigh with eight reindeer was on their roof. In the clothing, they find a card with an instruction saying:
“If something should happen to Santa, whoever finds the clothes should put them on and get in the sleigh.” Charlie convinced his dad to do it. Upon riding the sleigh, the reindeer brought them on different houses to finish delivering the gifts.
2. Scrooged

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is one of the most famous books. The story focuses on Ebenezer Scrooge, a cold-hearted and greedy man who hates Christmas. He was visited by four ghosts who helped him become a caring person.
Since its publication in 1843, the novel has been adapted various times for film, opera, radio, television and theater. My most favorite A Christmas Carol adaptation is Scrooged released in 1988. The film starred Bill Murray as Frank Cross, a cold-hearted and cruel TV producer.
He was given a task to head a live Christmas Eve broadcast of A Christmas Carol. Driven by success and wealth, he pushed people to work on that day. After the visit of three ghosts, Frank begs for a second chance and made things right. The best part was when he delivered speech on air to spend Christmas with your loved ones instead of watching TV.
1. Jack Frost

Despite the title, this is the most heart-warming Christmas movie I ever watched.
Jack Frost is a singer who is always on the road. This made him spend less time with his son Charlie. But he promised that he will take his family on a Christmas trip. However, he was given a gig that could make or break his career. On his way, he realized that his family is more important. So, he borrows his best friend’s car.
It was a stormy night and the snow was blocking his view. Unable to see his way resulted to a car accident and his death. Charlie became depressed. But he remembered the magic harmonica his dad gave him. His father told him that he will able to hear the sound wherever he is. So Charlie played the harmonica before he went to sleep. The sound of the harmonic magically resurrects Jack and came back as a snowman.
This holiday season, I hope you spend more time with your family and friends. Watching any or all these Christmas films is a great bonding. Enjoy watching and advanced Merry Christmas!
