Mountain Wild Flowers of the Jungfrau Region

By Monkeys And Mountains Adventure @Laurel_Robbins

One of my favorite parts about hiking is when you get really, really lucky and discover mountain wildflowers are everywhere.

It’s not uncommon to see them when hiking, but it’s a special treat when they cover mountains in a sea of color. And that’s exactly what I was treated to on a recent trip to the Jungfrau Region of Switzerland.  We took the Grindelwald gondola directly from Grindelwald where we were staying to the First.  It’s the last stop on the gondola, and the start of the trail to Lake Bachalpsee.  You can either turn around or  continue on up to the Faulhorn as did for views over the other side of the mountain to the Interlacken region.  I’ll write all about the hike in an upcoming  post, but in the meantime, I wanted to share these photos with you:

Following our time in the Jungfrau region, we drove about an hour to the Gelmer Funicular, the steepest in Europe.  You ride it to Lake Gelmer where wildflowers are also abundant. The other place in Europe that I’ve visited that was spectacular for wildflowers was along the Tour du Mont Blanc.  Have any other recommendations for me?  I’d love to hear them!
