Meerkat Movies: Annual Cinema Index

Meerkat Movies has launched its annual cinema report, revealing the habits of UK cinema goers from the past year, whilst highlighting key opinions from the cinema-going British public, with key findings including;

    UK cinemas saw the highest attendance levels for almost 50 years in 2018, with a 3.7% year-on-year increase
  • Musical adaptations are more popular than ever, with David Bowie's story topping the list of icons we'd next like to see at the cinema
  • 75% of consumers polled say they feel James Bond should remain as a male lead
  • When movie fans were asked what films they would most like to see a sequel to, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War came in as the top three
  • Breakdown of the most popular movie by month in 2018 (according to Meerkat Movies redemption data):
I find this pretty interesting in terms of what most people went to see at the cinema during 2018! The only two films I did not see at the cinema from that monthly list were Peter Rabbit and The Nun. What are your thoughts on this annual report? What do you want from 2019 at the cinema?
