Maybelline Lip Gradation Pencils are almost identical to the Color Blur Pencils launched abroad but with a different name. For few seconds, I could not figure out how to twist up the pencil, and then I realized, you actually need to twist it up from bottom. So this long slender color coded gradation pencilcomes with two sides – one end is the lip pencil and the rubberized smudger on the other. The Lip Gradation is a hybrid between a lip pencil and lipstick. The rubberized tip is slightly chubby, tapered on both sides to fit nicely on your lips and the pencil is also tapered and helpful to make sharp edge or using it in the inner corner of the lip. The quantity of lip pencil is very small and it would get over very soon, that could be a drawback for many.
These are easy to blend, more like a mousse than a cream lipstick. It can be used as a lipstick but I honestly find it best used as a gradation/ombre look as these were designed to be blended. I have seen a lot of bloggers reviewing these as an all over lip color, but it really is best as a gradation lip since it is very creamy. The lip color feels very light on lips and transfer very little. Of course, it not stated as transfer proof, however I kissed the back of my hand and it transferred very little or nothing at all.
The Pigmentation is very intense and gives opaque coverage in a single pass covering pigmented lips pretty well.
The texture of Maybelline Lip Gradation Pencils could be drying on lips, so better exfoliate your lips very well beforehand since this is a matte finish lip color and will definitely cling onto dry/chapped patches.
If I use the lip pencil all over my lips as a lipstick, the color lasted me for 4-5 hours before the dryness irritates the heck out of me and I need to apply lip balm over it, whereas the gradation lip definitely lasts longer since you need to use a less product and it lasted for about 7 hours.

Coral 1 is a bright coral pink that would complement fair to medium skin tone. The shade is perfect for summers and I see me wearing this shade more often than the other 2.
Fuchsia 1 is a blue based popping fuchsia pink that would perk up Indian complexion pretty well.

Overall VerdictMaybelline Lip Gradation pencils are India’s first lip pencil that caters Ombre lip. It’s equally unique and interesting! You can use any other lip tint or lipstick to achieve the graded look, but I think the formula makes it that much more worthwhile to check these out. The Lip Gradation pencil is matte, creamy, light-weight and transfer very little. Overall I’m very happy with the Gradation Pencils and they do exactly what they claim to be. I’d highly recommended everyone to try at least one shade from the range. Priced Rs 500 for 1.13 g is quite pricey and the product will get over quickly if used regularly. Coral 1 is a gorgeous coral pink shade and is perfect for summers whereas Fuchsia 1 is a bright blue based pink and will complement Indian complexion quite well.
