The singer has the attention of Hollywood due to her breakout performance as Florence in the Netflix movie “Mudbound.”
The Strength of a Woman singer has earned two Golden Globe nominations:
- Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture
2. Best Original Song (Mighty River) Mudbound
SAG Award nominations:
- Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role (Mudbound)
- Outstanding Performance by a Cast (Mudbound)
Upon learning of her two Golden Globe nominations – for best supporting actress in Mudbound, as well as for her song “Mighty River” written for the WWII-era drama – Mary J. Blige spoke with EW about her relationship with the movie. “I had no idea what was coming,” Blige told the publication about the Dee Rees-directed film, “but I did know that it was a very important movie.”
The 75th annual Golden Globes ceremony will air live on NBC on Sunday, January 7, 2018.
The 24th annual SAG awards will air live Jan. 21st on both TNT and TBS at 8 p.m. ET
