Marc Anthony recently released a new hair product line specifically for dry hair. Marc Anthony created the Hydrating Coconut Oil and Shea Butter line as a solution to one of the top issues their clients face when dealing with their hair- hydration. Utilizing two of the most popular ingredients in the natural hair community,  Marc Anthony carefully crafted their newest formula to be absorbed into the hair to nourish and protect the hair from the inside out. The new line is said to help improve moisture, shine and manageability of your hair.

Naturally kinky, curly and tightly coiled hair can become extremely dry if not moisturized on a consistent basis. Styling tools, indoor heating, environmental pollutants and even the weather can poorly impact the condition and health of our hair. Having recently cut 3 inches of my hair due to heat damage (I promise to tell you guys about that later), I've been excited to try new products for my natural hair care and Marc Anthony's new Coconut and Shea butter hair care line arrived just in time.

Marc Anthony Coconut Oil and Shea Butter Sulfate-Free Hydrating Shampoo

Marc Anthony's Coconut & Shea shampoo is sulfate-free and has a light, pleasant tropical scent. The packaging is functional, which I like because you can easily flip the cap open and access however much product you need. Using the shampoo, I first noticed that it created a heavy lather. Only a dime-size amount is needed means that it should last you for a while.
Marc Anthony did a great job in the clarifying department. I was in dire need of a hair and scalp cleanse and the Coconut oil and Shea butter shampoo was able to remove dirt, build-up and even some light dandruff.

There were only two downsides to Marc Anthony's shampoo. One was that it made my hair feel unusually rough. I noticed it midway through washing when my hair started to feel a little too clean. The good thing was that my hair didn't become tangled as I massaged the shampoo onto my scalp. I also noticed that there is very little biotin in the Marc Anthony formula. The ingredient list is pretty hefty and biotin appears as the second-to-last ingredient on the list.

Although I like that Marc Anthony's coconut oil and Shea butter shampoo works well in removing buildup from the hair and scalp, it didn't wow me.

Pros of Using the Coconut and Shea Shampoo

  • Deeply cleanses
  • Restores dry and damaged hair
  • Promotes shiny and healthier looking hair
  • Nourishes the scalp and hair
  • Color safe

Cons of Using the Coconut and Shea Shampoo

  • Can make hair feel stripped if you use too much
  • The amount of Biotin included in the "infusion" is underwhelming

Marc Anthony Coconut Oil and Shea Butter Sulfate-free Hydrating Conditioner

I was skeptical about the coconut oil and Shea butter hydrating conditioner, especially after being disappointed with the shampoo from this line. Boy was I in for  treat. Marc Anthony redeemed himself with the creamy, buttery sulfate-free conditioner. It sells similar to cocoa butter and has the texture of a thick whipped cream. As I applied it my hair instantly felt softer and smoother.

Marc Anthony Coconut Oil and Shea Butter Volume Hairspray with Biotin

Hairspray is something that I never use. I haven't used hairspray since high school. Unlike the hairsprays I remember, this one is sulfate, paraben and DEA free. The hair spray is supposed to provide fullness and volume to your hair without leaving it sticky or hard. It took me a while to try this one, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. The hair spray was light on my hair and it never made my hair hard or flaky.
I do like that there is biotin in the hair spray, although nor very much. Biotin makes its appearance way down the ingredient list. I can also appreciate that the hair spray is humidity-resistant and allows for your curls to stay in place all day even in hot, humid weather.

Pros of Using the Coconut and Shea Hairspray

  • Provides great hold for various styles
  • Won't cause hair to become stiff or sticky
  • Contains biotin to promote hair growth
  • contains coconut and Shea butter to help keep hair moisturized

Cons of Using the Coconut and Shea Hairspray

  • Hold is not long-lasting

Overall, the Coconut and Shea Butter line worked well on my hair. I probably will have the bottle of hairspray forever because it's just not something that I see myself using on a regular basis. Although my hair is thin, it still sits upward and has no issues with volume at the moment. The shampoo and conditioner I'll probably use until the bottle is gone. I have plenty of shampoo left, but I may only have one more use of the conditioner. If I were to purchase any of these products to use again it would most likely be the conditioner.
