Louise and Steven got married in the Ladies’ Pavilion just as the leaves were starting to turn in early November.  They are from London, England and were 30 and 32 when they got married.  Louise and Steven met at school, Louise told me.  “He is two school years older than me and we went through school knowing of each other,” she said.  Several years after leaving school they reconnected in a local pub and began dating.

Steven proposed at the top of the London Eye.  “The sun was setting, it was about 9:30pm it was beautiful,” Louise said.  She was so swept up that she only has a vague memory of coming back down to the ground, but when they got to the street level she was surprised to see that he had arranged for her whole family to be waiting for them with champagne.  “It was superb, such a wonderful memory,” she said.

The couple were engaged for about a year and a half before they got married.  I asked why being married was important to them.  “For us it was about solidifying our love and respect for each other – to go forward in our lives as man and wife,” she said.  Louise said that they knew straight away that they wanted to have a destination wedding in New York.  “Having a group of your most loved family and friends in a setting of your choice overseas is something very magical,” she said.

I asked Louise why they chose to get married in Central Park.  She said that they knew they didn’t want to get married in a standard venue or hotel, “well frankly you could be anywhere in the world,” she said.  “There is only one Central Park, that is why we married there,” She added.  Of course, I’m biased but I couldn’t agree more.  “When we had been to Central Park before it was somewhere we fell in love with instantly,” she told me.

Louise and Steven and their party were in New York for one week.  The couple stayed at the Hudson Hotel.  They had twenty-one guests, made up from close family members and close friends from both sides.  “They were all thrilled with our choice as most had never been to New York previously,” Louise told me.

The wedding ceremony was held in the Ladies’ Pavilion.  “Whilst researching locations we did look at the Loeb Boathouse for the ceremony,” Louise said, “but we wanted the wedding to be outside in the elements,” she told me.  They were lucky with the weather; they had a beautiful day for their wedding, as we see quite frequently in late October and early November; it was a crisp, cold, sunny day.  “The day of our wedding the weather was amazing, the scenery and back drop was breath taking,” Louise said.

I asked how their ceremony was.  “It was a dream!  It went by far too quickly, we had the standard vows,” said Louise.  She wore a dressed purchased from her home in England, and also a fur shawl that she had purchased from Bebe in New York to take the chill off.

Their photographer was a friend – Louise Caroline Photography from Northamptonshire in England.  I asked Louise what she would say to anyone considering getting married in Central Park.  “I would say that it truly is one of the most magical, fairytale locations in the world that you could choose to marry your loved one,” she told me.  Thanks for sharing your story with us, Steven and Louise and thanks for sharing your photos for this blog, Louise Caroline Photography!
