PRIDE: Mayor to issue a big WELCOME speech at Pride following Brexit…
London mayor will use an appearance at Saturday’s Pride march to reassure Europeans living in London that they are still welcome after Thursday’s Brexit vote.
Sadiq Khan will echo the words of Jo Cox, the MP who was killed outside her constituency office, and tell marchers to “focus on what unites us, rather than that which divides us”.
The capital bucked the English trend in voting to remain in the European Union, and Khan is expected to paint it as a city that has a record of tolerance that will stay after the vote.

BOOS FOR BORIS: For those of you reading outside the UK, ex Mayor of London Boris Johnson has long enjoyed a special place in the hearts of the English. His antics – from adultery to jokey claims about cocaine use on TV's Have I Got News For You – raise chuckles in pubs up and down the nation. He was famous for appearing on comedy chat shows, saying scabrous things about people from the north of England and pulling jolly stunts that make him appear a bluff sort of a fellow.
For many he was a national treasure, for others a very British type of nincompoop.
The mood seemed to turn on Friday, however, as he was roundly boo-ed by Londoners when leaving his home following his successful campaign to take the UK out of the EU…

West Londoner Rishi Vegad had to learn to walk again after a hit-and-run collision. His story is one of incredible courage…
Rishi says he can't remember the accident or anything that happened four weeks before it. He was in hospital for nearly two months where he underwent gruelling physiotherapy in order to learn to walk again with a prosthetic leg and knee. An out-patient for nearly a year, he had treatment every day, with the time spent on exercises increasing as he became stronger.
Learning to walk again after a severe injury is a long process. To start with, Rishi had to learn how to sit up in bed unassisted, and then how to get out of it and into a wheelchair. After his prosthetic leg was fitted, he was then taught to stand and walk using parallel bars, and then outside the bars with walking-sticks, until he could complete the exercise with no aids. As well as the NHS recovery programme, Rishi has found comfort and strength in exercise, and is now a keen swimmer and gym-goer.
