Celebrating the release of their sophomore album, Hummingbird, Local Natives were welcomed into Music Hall of Williamsburg last night for their first of three sold out New York City shows. Opening act People Get Ready was outstanding, a percussion-heavy guy-girl combo that really packed a punch. Their song “Windy Cindy” hooked an unsuspecting audience and kept their undivided attention. Local Natives was most certainly not outdone though. They played a long set filled with tracks off both their albums — from the pristine harmonies of Taylor Rice/Kelcey Ayer/Ryan Hahn and rhythmic pounding of Matt Frazier’s drums to the band’s on-stage demeanor and energy of the crowd, everything about this show was perfect. Just perfect.
