In addition to the weird skeletal design, this new road-legal special edition sports car comes packed with a Sadev six-speed paddleshift gearbox and a new engine boasting around 350bhp, which the company claims to be enough to reach 0-60 mph in just 2.5 seconds and 0-100 mph in six seconds.

“We’ve seen a growing demand for paddleshift cars over the past year or so,” said  Simon Saunders, CEO of Ariel. “One of the big successes of the Atom V8 was its paddleshift. People who drove it were impressed with the speed and ease of gearchanging, and felt it particularly suited the Atom’s character. We’re reacting to that.”

Ariel plans to release the Atom 3.5R into showrooms in this summer with a price tag of around £80,000.
