  • LG has promised three years of Android updates for all premium phones released in 2019 or later.
  • Upgradable devices include the LG G-Series, V-Series, Velvet, and Wing.
  • Some cheaper models also receive two operating system updates.

Earlier this week, LG announced that the smartphone deal would be closed by the end of July. At that point, the company announced that it would continue to provide software updates for certain phones in certain regions. Now LG has made it clear which phones are eligible for future Android updates and how many.

In its recent announcement, the South Korean company reassured its customers that its premium phones will receive up to three iterations of Android updates from the year of purchase. This three OS update warranty covers all premium LG phones available from 2019 - G-Series, V-Series, Velvet, and Wing.

For example, the LG Velvet was started with Android 10, so it should ideally be suitable for updates up to Android 13.

We have compiled a list of all of these phones below. So if your phones are on it then you should be good to the three Android updates.

In addition to the premium flagships, LG also gives its cheaper phones a little love for updates. Certain 2020 models such as the LG Stylo and K series will receive two operating system updates.

LG continues to warn that future updates will depend on Google's distribution plan as well as other factors such as device performance and compatibility. The brand also reiterates that it will continue to make phones through the second quarter of 2021, and those who buy them can expect software updates "for a limited period of time".
