Legends of Tomorrow: Season 2 Cast & Egypt Connection - Producer Hints

The third show in the interconnected Arrowverse, Legends of Tomorrow wrapped up its first season in May to fairly middling reviews.

Although the show didn’t garner the kind of following that the other two series, Arrow and The Flash, have found, comic book and time travel fans still found plenty to love about the ensemble spin-off. The show was officially picked up for a second season in March, with rumors of new cast members and all-new adventures to come.
Legends of Tomorrow: Season 2 Cast & Egypt Connection - Producer Hints
Now, writer and executive producer Marc Guggenheim (who also writes/produces for Arrow and the animated seriesVixen), has tweeted a few hints of what we might be seeing in the upcoming second season. In multiple tweets, Guggenheim revealed a little about who we will be seeing on the show this fall, as well as where (and when!) the Waverider may be visiting.
Guggenheim’s first tweet revealed some artwork of what appears to be an ancient Egyptian scroll. The image includes hieroglyphics and a row of Egyptian god-like figures approaching the Pharaoh, which is fairly unremarkable, but the top panel includes a drawing of what appears to be the Waverider. The producer’s second tweet included a photo from the table read for the season 2 premiere, including many of the actors from season 1 – as well as one actor whose face has been blurred out.

The Egyptian image suggests that Legends will be visiting Ancient Egypt this season – seeing the Waverider (or another timeship) appearing on a papyrus scroll could mean few other things. What’s not clear is how this will follow on from the events of season 1. This is a place and time with strong ties to Kendra/Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee), Carter/Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) and Vandal Savage (Casper Crump), but Vandal was killed at the end of last season, and Carter and Kendra decided to leave the team. It’s possible that we could see these characters again (although a reappearance by Vandal Savage is highly unlikely), and a return to Egypt could mean that Kendra and Carter haven’t left the series for good.

The photo from the table read is particularly interesting because of the mystery actor, although it’s also exciting just to see the cast together and ready to get started on season 2. From right to left, pictured are Franz Drameh (Jefferson Jax/Firestorm), Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/Atom), Victor Garber (Martin Stein/Firestorm), and Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heatwave). There are two figures whose faces are out of the shot, although a peek at blonde hair has us guessing that one is Caity Lotz (Sara Lance/White Canary), and another may be the final remaining member of the season 1 team: Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter). The last actor has had his face blurred out, but we are guessing that it could be either Patrick J Adams or Nick Zano.
Adams appeared in the season 1 finale as Rex Tyler, aka Hourman, introducing the Justice Society of America to the series. However, seeing as his character has already been revealed on the show, it’s unlikely that Guggenheim would have gone to the trouble of blurring out his face in this shot. More likely is Nick Zano, who was revealed to be joining the show as Nate Heywood, aka Citizen Steel.
Legends of Tomorrow: Season 2 Cast & Egypt Connection - Producer Hints ImageWhile these are the most likely candidates, being confirmed as new cast members, it’s possible that the Legends team has a third, unknown, male joining the team for season 2. Another possibility is that we will be seeing Wentworth Miller’s Captain Cold in the season premiere, and Guggenheim doesn’t want to give that away after Captain Cold’s death in the penultimate season 1 episode. Miller has been confirmed as a recurring character in the Arrowverse this fall, so he may well be sitting next to his on-screen brother for the table read.
We’ll just have to wait to find out what happens in Egypt, and who this mystery man is, this fall when the show returns to the CW. In the meantime, we can hope that Guggenheim (and the rest of the cast) continues to drop hints as season 2 filming gets underway.
The Flash season 3 will premiere Tuesday October 4th at 8pm on The CW, Arrow season 5 will premiere in the same timeslot on Wednesday October 5th, Supergirl season 2 on Monday October 10th, and Legends of Tomorrow season 2 on Thursday October 13th.
