Legendary Fashion Photographer Lillian Bassman Dies

By Janemow @janemow

Today, I’d like to pay respect to one of fashion’s leading photographer, Lillian Bassman. Lillian passed away this week. A huge contributor to the creative world; her work was not only inspirational, it definitely left a huge mark in the fashion world. Lillian worked right up until her last days. She had an eye for detail and continued to develop her skills as technology & fashion evolved. Thank you Lillian & RIP!

“Born in Brooklyn in 1917, she is considered one of the greatest female fashion photographers and credited with promoting the careers of Richard Avedon, Robert Frank, and Louis Faurer during her tenure at Harper’s Bazaar from the late forties to the mid-sixties. She once said of her photographic style, “I wanted to present women in the way” – NY Mag. For a more detailed review, stop by nytimes.com.
