LaLicious Body Butters (Sugar Reef, Coconut Cream, Island Guava, Passionfruit Lime) Review

LaLicious Body Butter Review (Sugar Reef, Coconut Cream, Island Guava, Passionfruit Lime)

(The coffee scrub souffle will be in another review. Please disregard it in this image.)

LaLicious reformulated their body butters to be paraben-free, and they had a lot of tropical scents so I decided to give them a try. I love tropical fragrances and anything exotic, so I was hoping to like these, too.

It absorbs VERY quickly, some of the quickest I’ve ever seen. It’s a thick, slightly whipped consistency and feels luxurious. No greasy residue – this is a very, very nice body cream. Moisturizes very well thanks to the shea butter base. Some varieties have a sharp, obvious scent that you can smell within 6 inches of the skin. I ended up using more than usual around my drier areas, like hips, outer thights, feet and backs of arms. My skin stayed soft for about 7 hours. The strong, heavy scents are what makes LaLicious stand out. If you’re sensitive to strong scents, you may not like these, unfortunately.

LaLicious Body Butters (Sugar Reef, Coconut Cream, Island Guava, Passionfruit Lime) Review

Island Guava - Juicy, sweet, and smells exactly like walking between the guava trees on the mountains of Maui. It also reminds me of the guava juice and nectar you can get at any store. If you’ve never tasted the fruit, I highly suggest you do. It’s very exotic and sweet, and this body butter embodies a part of home for me.

Passionfruit Lime – The lightest scent of the four I’ve tried, it’s a fresh, fruity fragrance with a touch of lime undertones. Compared to the other scents, it’s a tad underwhelming and sadly my least favorite. I love passionfruit, but this didn’t impress me as much as the others. Still moisturizes well though, and is very creamy and leaves your skin silky smooth.

Coconut Creme – A sweet, sugary type of coconut scent, like a pina colada. Or those pasty white sunscreen lotions you had to wear as a kid before going to the beach. It smells more like a delicious tropical drink than actual coconut. After it sat on my skin for a while, I could smell more of the coconut undertones. This is perfect for someone who prefers a perfumed, sweet scent to their coconut, as opposed to a natural coconut. It does smell good enough to eat.

Sugar Reef - Wow, this really surprised me. My first impression was that it was a very clean, crisp scent, and reminded me of the ocean breeze. It has notes of casaba melon, white tea and ginger, and yes, it does have a splash of sweetness. It’s a very beautiful, light, floral scent, and already one of my favorites. This one isn’t as heavy as Coconut Creme or Island Guava.

So, do I like LaLicious body butters? Yes, I do! They work exceptionally well and even on day old unshowered skin, it left my legs soft. The only dings? They have a few ingredients some natural beauty enthusiasts may not approve of, and it’s prohibitively pricier than I can afford comfortably when you consider the ingredients.

I love all the tropical scents, with Island Guava and Sugar Reef being a personal favorite. Still, the 2 oz bottles last me quite a while, and I may spring for a bottle of Sugar Reef and try the others in the future. I’d probably keep a small bottle around at all times if I get in the mood for something LaLicious.
