Kim Jong Un Addresses Ideology Officials Conference and Attends Photo-Op

DPRK state media reported on 26 February (Wednesday) that Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) attended the second and final day of a conference of information and agitation officials.  His last observed appearance was his visit to the construction and renovation of Songdowon International Children’s Camp.

According to KCNA upon KJU’s appearance “on the platform of the conference hall, all participants broke into loud cheers and enthusiastic applauses” and he “warmly acknowledged them and extended a warm salute to the participants who have devoted themselves to developing the party ideological work.”  Kim Jong Un listened to speeches which said that ideology officials “have fully prepared all party members and other working people as vanguard fighters who devotedly protect the leader, deeply trusting and following the party and the leader only by relying on the well-regulated ideological work system, information and agitation methods and education bases, true to President Kim Il Sung’s (Kim Il-so’ng) and leader Kim Jong Il’s (Kim Cho’ng-il) line of attaching importance to ideology.”  Meeting speakers “noted that they have deeply grasped the validity and vitality of the theories and methods of the party ideological work in the period when they have powerfully encouraged the masses in the drive for embodying the Party’s ideology and upholding its policies by giving play to their revolutionary enthusiasm and creative ingenuity through the thorough application of the information and agitation methods of the anti-Japanese guerrilla style and a brisk three-revolution red flag movement” and “emphasized the immortal leadership exploits the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu performed in the drive for modeling the whole society on the monolithic idea by setting forth the Chuch’e-oriented theory of ideology and the greatness and great vitality of their ideas and theories and analyzed and reviewed the successes, experience and shortcomings gained in the party ideological work in the past.”

The speeches delivered at the conferences “called on the ideological workers to understand and confirm once again the importance of the party ideological work in the important historic period of carrying forward the revolutionary cause of Chuch’e and successfully realize the modeling of the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism by concentrating every effort on more thoroughly establishing the monolithic leadership system of the party and consolidating the unity and cohesion of the party and revolutionary ranks in thought and purpose as firm as a rock” and “renewed their determination to make a positive contribution to giving fullest play to the mental power of Kim Il Sung’s nation and Kim Jong Il’s Korea in building a thriving nation by successfully turning the party ideological work into the one instilling the fighting spirit and patriotism into the popular masses.”

Kim Jong Un delivered a “very important speech” in which he said that there was a failure “to learn and root out the emergence of a modern-time faction within the party in advance” and that “all efforts of the party’s ideological projects should be poured into the firm establishment of the monolithic control system … and to eradicate factionalism.”  Following KJU’s remarks, according to KCNA, “all participants renewed their loyal pledge to become political activists of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il type and give full play to the might of the revolutionary idea of the party and mental power of all service personnel and people and thus creditably fulfill their honorable mission and duty as ideological officials of the party in the glorious era of Kim Jong Un” and a letter pledging loyalty to the Korean Workers’ Party [KWP] was adopted.  The meeting concluded with a speech by Choe T’ae Bok, KWP Secretary and Supreme People’s Assembly [SPA] Chairman.

Gen. Kim Chang Sop (Director of the Ministry of State Security Political Bureau), Jo Yon Jun (Senior Deputy [1st Vice] Director of the KWP Organization Guidance Department), Kim Kyong Ok (Senior Deputy[1st Vice] Director of the KWP Organization Guidance Department), Ri Ch’ae-il (Senior Deputy [1st Vice] Director of the KWP Propaganda and Agitation Department), Choe Hwi (Senior Deputy [1st Vice] of the KWP Organization Guidance Department), Hwang Pyong So (Deputy [vice] Director of the KWP Organization Guidance Department) and Tong Yong Il (Deputy [vice] Director of the KWP Propaganda and Agitation Department).

According to KCNA when Kim Jong Un arrived he was greeted with “cheers of ‘hurrah!’” to which he responded by waving and “extended warm greetings to them.”  According to KCNA he noted that “the conference unprecedented in its scale in the history of the WPK marked a significant occasion of making a new milestone in glorifying for all ages the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il who always led the WPK and the Korean revolution to victory by dint of ideology and in raising a strong wind of ideological campaign, information and agitation as required by the developing reality, he congratulated the participants on successfully holding the conference amid high enthusiasm” and said that “very great are the trust and expectation of the party for the ideological officials.”  He expressed “expectation and conviction that they would arouse all the service personnel and people to the grand drive for ushering in a golden age of So’ngun (Military-First) Korea by launching a campaign all at once on the party ideological front.”
