Kerry Washington Honored At  “Women Making History Awards” In Beverly Hills Saturday

Kerry Washington was honored on Saturday at the  “Women Making History Awards” for her philanthropic work supporting  young women as well as for breaking barriers in the entertainment industry.

Washington was one of three recipients of the Women Making History award, an honor bestowed by the National Women’s History Museum (NWHM) to women making significant contributions in their fields.

According to The Hollywood Reporter each year, the award is presented to groundbreaking women both in Los Angeles and in D.C., where the museum is located.  Washington was honored Saturday afternoon during a special brunch event at the Beverly Hills Hotel, sponsored by Glamour magazine and Lifeway Foods.

“Kerry Washington broke barriers by becoming the first African-American woman to headline a network TV drama since 1974,” said NWHM board chair Susan Whiting.
