Keerthy Suresh is an actress in the South Indian film industry. Keerthy was a child actress in the early 2000s and after graduating in fashion design, she returned to the leading roles. She played her first lead role in the 2013 Malayalam film Gitanjali as well as signed films in Tamil and Telugu languages.

Early Life

Keerthy Suresh was born on 17 October 1992 to Malayali filmmaker Suresh Kumar and actress Menaka. She has an elder sister, Revathi Suresh, who works as a VFX specialist and has previously worked for Shah Rukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies. By class four, Keerthy did her schooling in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She then studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram before coming to Chennai to enroll in Pearl Academy, where she completed his degree in fashion design. She spent four months in an exchange program in Scotland, London before completing a two-month internship. Despite making a career in acting, she has said that she was “seriously considering a career in designing”.

Career

In early 2000, Keerthy acted as a child actress in some of her father’s productions such as Pilot (2000), Achanyanenikkishtam (2001), and Kuberan (2002). 11 years after Kuberan she made her debut as the lead actress in Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy Geetanjali, in which she had a double role. She was also studying at the time and she shot for Gitanjali during her semester break. In 2014, Keerthy directed her next release, Ring Master, by Rafi Mecartin duo in which she shared screen space with Dileep. She played the role of a blind girl, which she said was much more challenging than her dual role in Gitanjali. In 2014, she accepted her first projects outside Malayalam and signed on to appear in several Tamil film projects simultaneously. Her first film release was A. L. Vijay’s romantic comedy was Idhu Enna Maayam (2015) opposite Vikram Prabhu, although the film did not do well at the box office. As a result, she acted in quick succession, Rajni Murugan and Nurse Akka with Sivakarthikeyan in two films, while also playing the lead role in Prabhu Solomon’s Rail with Dhanush. That year, she made her first Telugu film, Aaina Ishtam Nuvvu directed by Ramprasad Ragu. The film, an adaptation of Rendu Jella Sita (which was also the initial title of Aaina Ishtam Nuvvu), was dubbed “a sweet love story on the lines of the Ramayana” by Keerthy, playing Janaki, a “playful playful character”. Similar to Sita.
