Just Posted! Latest ‘Hawaii In Vermont’ Podcast with Guest Reviewer @WendieJoy of the ‘Five-0 Redux’ Blog for Hawaii Five-0′s 20th Episode: “Ma Ke Kahakai”

Posted on the 18 April 2011 by Danainvermont @websouffle

I was thrilled to be able to record this week’s podcast from a Skype call all the way from Oahu last Friday, with Wendie Burbridge, who I met while in Honolulu, last February. Many of you will remember that Wendie  was featured as one of four interviews for our ‘Hawaiian Blogger’ series which can be found here on my blog.

She is a published writer, playwright and teacher of Language arts at the Kamehameha Schools- Kapalamacampus on Oahu. I was especially excited to talk about the show this week with her because she also writes a weekly review of the “new Hawaii Five-0″ for the Honolulu Star Advertiser’s Pulse website called Five-0 Redux.

I interviewed Wendie last February while we were waiting for a scene to be filmed for this episode of Hawaii Five-0 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. You can find video, and pictures from that night at my Hawaii In Vermont Facebook page here and below:

This week’s podcast covered a wide range of topics: from how Wendie goes about coming up with her thoughtful articles, to Hawaiian culture, language, locations, restaurants as well as a lively discussion of this lovely episode, “Ma Ke Kahakai.” (On the shore, or On the beach in Hawaiian) We do include possible spoilers for the final episode at the end of our review and right before a discussion of locations, so be on the guard for our Spoiler Alert! Previous bloggers in our Hawaiian blogger series, Officer808 of 50undercover.com and Ryan Ozawa of Hawaii Blog and his previews on Nonstophonolulu.com, are also referred to in our discussion, as well as Mike Buck’s local Honolulu Radio show on KHVH AM 830 which discusses the show each tuesday evening after a new episode airs. A fantastic interview on Mike Buck’s show with the co-executive producers of Hawaii Five-0 can be found at this link.  You can link to it as well at Officer808′s blog as well as read feedback and comments about that in-depth interview, in which Officer808 called in as usual for a direct discussion with the producers! This is definitely a podcast you don’t want to miss!   Wendie and I would greatly appreciate any and all feedback and comments you can post to our blogs and Facebook pages (Don’t forget to click the “Like” button for the page!)  Please let us know if you want us to do this again….because we have some ideas about continuing an in-depth podcast together about “things we missed” in each episode, even through the hiatus period! And remember that all contributers to the Hawaii In Vermont blog, FB page or commenters to this podcast on iTunes will be entered into a Five-0 T-shirt contest at the end of this month. The winner will be announced the first week of May! Don’t forget that Wendie can be reached at her Five-0 Redux blog, at her Five-0 Redux Facebook Page at http://www.facebook.com/Five0Redux, and her Twitter handle @WendieJoy Next week’s episode: Ho’opa’i”  (Hawaiian for “Close to Heart.”) is “When a crime lord moves against the family of an undercover NYPD detective who infiltrated his organization, it’s up to Five-0 to stop the policeman from exacting revenge on the next episode of  Hawaii Five-0.” starring Sean “Diddy” Combs

Be There! Aloha!!
