Join the Alexander Skarsgård Holiday Drive and Make a Scarf for a Good Cause!

Posted on the 02 December 2011 by Tbfansource @tbfansource

holidaycharity2011-2The holiday season is officially upon us and at this time of year, we reflect on the things that we are grateful for as well as taking the time to give to others in need. No one does that better than the Alexander Skarsgård (Eric Northman) fan sites Alexander Skarsgård Fans, Skarsgård News, and Alex Skarsgård.net. For the holidays last year, they teamed with Save the Children and Alexander himself to take on Caps for Good which provided hats to premature infants in developing nations. Over 200 caps were given and sent to children in need!

This year for the holiday season and Alexander’s Name Day on December 12,  the Skarsgård Team will be working with Handmade Especially for You. Handmade Especially for You aides women who have been victims of domestic violence by providing them with comforting handmade scarves after making the choice to leave an abusive relationship and go to a shelter.  Leaving this type of relationship is not easy and the hope is that by providing them with a handmade scarf that is a gift to them, it will help to raise their self esteem and help them start to change their lives for the better.

A scarf may seem like a small gesture. But a handmade gift from the heart can go a long way!

Handmade Especially for You set a goal of 11,000 scarfs for the year 2011 to reach shelters in Southern California and now they are only 2,000 away from that goal! So it is definitely possible.

There are two ways to participate in this holiday drive either by making a scarf or making a donation.

Scarves must be sent to Alex Skarsgård.net by December 29th so that they can be photographed for Alexander to see and then be over-nighted to Handmade Especially for You. The specifications are below:

- Big needles (size 15 or 17) or big hooks (K, N, P)
- Soft yarn (for comfort)
- Happy color
- At least 4 inches wide but no more than 5 inches wide
- At least 60 inches long
- Open stitch (for distribution in a warm climate)
- Some decoration like fun fur or ribbon to individualize each scarf and make it a personal gift for the recipient
