Jan. 29 – Rosemead Calls on Volunteers to Support 2013 Homeless Count

By Wonder

Rosemead’s 2013 Homeless Count takes place on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 8:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.

Do you know the number of people who are homeless in Rosemead on any given night? Help us find out! Teams of 2-3 people will survey Rosemead’s streets and note homeless individuals.

All volunteers will receive training.

Volunteers will be deployed from the Rosemead Garvey Community Center, on foot and in cars. Please indicate any preferences. We will do our best to accommodate.

For more information or to RSVP, please return Registration Form (link below), or call, Marcy Marquez Housing Project Coordinator, at (626) 569-2119 or e-mail [email protected]

This is an opportunity to become more hands-on and engaged in local efforts to address homelessness. Spread the word and encourage your friends, family members and colleagues to join in.

In late January 2013 Rosemead will partner with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) on a complete, city-wide count of homeless people. The 2013 effort is part of LAHSA’s biannual project, which is required by the Federal government.

Required skills: Compassion, attention to detail and fitness ability to walk approximately one mile during the night time hours of 8:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and dress for being outdoors, whatever the weather. The count will happen regardless of weather conditions.
